Against the Tide:
Shot over one summer, Against The Tide begins with the stories of Ernest and Scotty West -- a father and son fishing team working in the tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay. Ernest, in his 80’s, has fished all his life. Scotty has experienced his father’s hard work but must come to terms with the reality that no one will follow in his footsteps They, like all Bay watermen, face increasing pressures that threaten domestic harvests. Deteriorating environmental conditions coupled with cheap imports mean less income to feed families and fewer incentives to enter the trade.
Finally travel to Tangier Island, reachable only by ferry, where fishing is more than a trade, it is the only way of life. And as the blue crab disappears, so do traditions and cultures.
